The Music City Power Squadron - Nashville, Tennessee
A Unit of District 17/ United States Power Squadrons®
Sail and Power Boating

"Boating is fun… We'll show you how"

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you did not do than by the things you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Attributed to Mark Twain

Thank you for visiting our web site. This web site is designed to provide information about the United States Power Squadrons® and the Music City Power Squadron based in Nashville, TN with members from Davidson and surrounding counties.

Although landlocked, the Music City Power Squadron offers great ways to help satisfy a desire for recreational sail and power boating. If you would like to learn more about how that's done - read on. And when you get out on the water look for our boats with the burgee below on our bow staff or starboard spreader and the USPS® Ensign attached to our stern staff.

MCPS Burgee

Nashville, Tennessee is home for the Music City Power Squadron and also serves several surrounding counties. The squadron was founded in 1994 as a unit of the United States Power Squadrons® whose origin traces back to 1914. The Squadron offers comprehensive Boating Safety Courses and special topic Seminars for the boating public at various times and places during each year. The Music City Power Squadron is made up of men and women who have a common love and appreciation of recreational boating and who are willing to contribute time, energy, and skills to the objectives of the Squadron.

Just follow the Area boating link on the left for more information on the waters we cruise. If you are interested in taking the Squadron Boating Course (or any other course), click on the Courses menu item to the left. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us. Oh yeah, and we can show you how to get around that so-called landlock part too.

Subscribe now to the squadron's e-mail notification service

At the suggestion of Bob Duthie, the squadron has enrolled in an e-mail marketing service in an effort to bolster our membership and reach the broader public. The basic idea is that we use this service to send out announcements of classes, meetings and other events using squadron stationary. Hopefully recipients will forward whatever is appropriate on to interested acquaintances that will then decide to add themselves to our mailing list. With a little luck that will snowball and eventually result in increased squadron membership. That will only happen with your support and participation.

If you've already received a communication via this service then you're already subscribed. If not, then click here to sign up. This service is open to the public.

America's Boating Course

America's Boating Course is a complete home study program covering the basics of recreational boating. The course is designed for boaters using all types of watercraft.

America’s Boating Course is recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard and has been approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.

Both the boater education course manual and the CD provide review questions so that you can show that you truly understand the material. In addition to the lessons, this safe boating course includes resources which will come in handy long after you have completed the course: printable forms (such as checklists, accident reports, float plans, etc.) and links to documents such as the U.S. Coast Guard's Navigation Rules, which can help you with any specific boating rule. You will receive both the boater safety printed course manual and the CD when you sign up.
